If a user becomes aware that his password has accidentally become known to unauthorized persons or third parties, or if there is any other risk of improper use, he must inform the DOI immediately. The DOI will then take appropriate measures to block the affected password. Regardless of this, however, the DOI is not liable for damage resulting from any misuse of passwords, unless such misuse was caused by grossly negligent or willful behavior on the part of the DOI or one of its vicarious agents. In addition, the DOI is entitled at any time to revoke or restrict access authorization by blocking the access data, without having to give reasons.
The DOI assumes no liability for consequential damage, in particular lost profit, production downtime, business interruption or loss of data, unless such liability exists under mandatory law.
Users of the DOI website are solely responsible for compliance with the relevant national law.
The German law applies. The place of jurisdiction is Berlin, insofar as such a place of jurisdiction may permissibly be agreed with the user.
Should one or more provisions of these terms of use be wholly or partially ineffective, this shall not affect the validity of the remaining provisions. In place of the ineffective provision (s), a provision with the same content as possible, which comes as close as possible to the purpose of the intended provision, is retrospectively applied.
