Germany and MENA in a time of shifting energy landscapes
On 25th October 2022, 13.00-14.30h CET
The abrupt changes in the energy landscape came at a critical time in the energy transition. These changes seem to have led to a change in Germany’s foreign policy towards MENA, signified by chancellor Scholz’s visit to the region in September, and Germany’s broader renewed effort to develop economic ties with the region. What might this new relationship look like? Which geopolitical and geoeconomic aspects factor in? And what is each side looking for as they attempt to redraw old lines.
